National Certified Counselor

A National Certified Counselor (NCC) must have a graduate degree in counseling from a regionally accredited institution, supervised post-masterÂ’s counseling experience, and a passing score on the National Counselor Examination for Licensure and Certification (NCE).
To maintain certification, a counselor must complete 100 hours of continuing education within each 5-year renewal period.

The National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) is the largest national counselor credentialing organization in the United States. National certification promotes professional accountability and ensures that clientsÂ’ rights are protected through the NBCC Code of Ethics.
